The experience gate has evolved

I have always used passion, aptitude, and experience to guide my hiring decisions.

You can’t teach passion.

Aptitude typically increases, over time, driven by passion.

Experience is important but it is not the most important signal, historically.

AI has made me look at a candidate’s experience through a different lens. What has become more important is a candidate’s ability to employ AI as an accelerant.

The “experience” gate has evolved.

Now it feels like hiring the right person is equivalent to hiring a small, high-output team in one person.
